This is written as a series of Dream Interpretation Helps concerning dreams from God. I will cover the things that I feel are mandatory for correct dream interpretation and application of the truths revealed in the dream. All scripture references are NASB, unless otherwise noted. WATCHMEN MUST WARN
At one time, I was taught that, as a Christian, if you have a confrontational dream about someone else, you are probably only supposed to pray for them. Then I dreamt Ezekiel 33, literally. I saw the sword come to kill in the same manner as described in Ezekiel 33. In the dream, I had to warn the people personally because I saw that the sword was coming again to kill. Many in the dream didn’t take my warning, and so were killed by the coming of the sword (I’ve noticed that dreams from the Lord usually don’t focus on letting us see too much of the ‘graphic’ details.). But a few listened and were saved. Ezekiel was told that if he didn’t warn the people to turn away from sin when he saw the sword coming (judgment for their iniquity and sin), then their blood would be required at his hand. In other words, God expects us, when He gives us a specific warning for an individual or group, to speak to them so they have a chance to repent and be forgiven and escape the sword of eternal judgment.
I no longer have the philosophy, “just pray for them, but never confront them with what God is saying to correct their sinful way”. Think about it. This is a hellish philosophy in the Body of Christ. To not warn our own brothers and sisters in Christ that their behavior could cause them to be eternally lost is wrong! I know it takes courage to speak up about sin, especially knowing that the other person may not ‘like’ you for speaking the truth. But we must do things God’s way, not the polite ‘American Christian’ way. I must emphasize that if the person you’ve dreamed about is in your church body, it is proper to get permission from your pastor before sharing the dream with them, partly to confirm that the dream is truly of the Lord and not coming from a ‘suspicious’ spirit, especially if it seems to be a corrective word.
I must add that if the Lord gives you a corrective dream for someone, it is NEVER to judge them. The Lord certainly wants you to pray for them, very possibly to speak the truth in LOVE. He gave the dream for the purpose of bringing repentance and forgiveness because He cares for that person. And if they reject the Word? Keep praying. Never judge. That isn’t our place. Dreams are not to be fuel for gossip.
Also, if you are a woman with a believing husband as I am, I believe that to prophesy with ‘our head covered’ means that you submit all the ‘words’ and dreams you feel are from the Lord to your believing husband (your ‘head’, your authority) before giving them. If a dream is from the Lord, your husband will bear witness. If you have no husband, it would be good to submit the dream to your pastor or a mature believer with spiritual discernment. Men, too, should have their ‘word’ judged by others with similar gifts. This is Biblical. I Cor 11:3-5, I Cor 14:29.
