This is written as a series of Dream Interpretation Helps concerning dreams from God. I will cover the things that I feel are mandatory for correct dream interpretation and application of the truths revealed in the dream. All scripture references are NASB, unless otherwise noted. DREAMS FROM GOD ARE PARABLES
I don’t think I’ve ever really had a dream that had more than one main theme… just like Jesus’ parables. There could possibly be a secondary theme, but don’t think complicated... think simple. God is very deep and profound, yet He has only a few themes that He reiterates over and over in many different ways. It is the flesh and the world system that don’t ‘get’ what God is saying because they are opposed to Him. Their ‘wisdom’ is opposite and contrary to God’s true wisdom. Look for Biblical imagery in dreams. If a dream has several scenes that at first seem very different, the scenes are probably building on one another or saying the same message with different symbols. Here is one key: What symbol in one scene has the same meaning as a different symbol in another scene? By letting the Holy Spirit teach you each symbol’s significance with respect to the common theme, the Lord can give you a more clear and informative picture than if He only used one symbol.
I will give an example from two different dreams that were connected. A friend’s dream was ‘Part One’ from the Lord and my dream the very next day was ‘Part Two’. I don’t believe that I would have understood my dream if I had not heard her dream first. My friend saw in her dream a young boy with money pouches full of many old coins, plus an old paper currency from Europe that had the year 1492 on it (the year Columbus prayerfully dedicated the new-found land, America, for the furtherance of the Gospel). The dream also contrasted a shiny modern paper currency from Japan (Japan, in 2013, is currently buying our nation’s debt faster than any other nation, so I believe the Japanese money was linked to modern America’s ‘identity’.). Then my friend saw a symbol which she understood in the dream to represent the true body of Christ in America - former President George W. Bush in a simple pure white wedding dress. There was no sense of perversion. According to the Bible, believers are the Bride of Christ as well as sons of God. President Bush was in a hurry, anxiously looking for something.
Now, enter my dream which occurred the next day. Note that it is almost a continuation of my friend’s dream with new scenes added and that as scenes change in my dream, there is a reiterating of the same theme with a similar image that gives more information to the whole. In my dream, I had cleaned the dirty, old-fashioned white lace-up shoes of a proud little carefree girl who was riding a spirited, hard-to-control pony. I believe she represented America just as the little boy in my friend’s dream also represented America. Were we seeing six-year-olds, possibly signifying six centuries since 1492? America is a relatively young nation. Then I remembered that I had left the young girl’s shoes all clean and shining on the 15th floor (1492 is the 15th century) of a tall building. So I rode the elevator on the outside of the building (outside of time) from the 21st floor (21st century- modern day America) to the 15th floor (the 15th century symbolizing the founding of America) to find the clean white shoes (the true gospel that has been lost). So, I went back six centuries in time.
A later scene in the same dream has the young girl riding the pony (symbolic of America being supported by its undisciplined ‘flesh’) without her gospel shoes (Remember, they are back in the 15th century). She is riding her horse across six lanes (six centuries) of a very busy highway. The horse had run away with her (undisciplined) because she wasn’t wearing her shoes (the discipline of the gospel). Riding on an undisciplined pony or horse represents making the ‘flesh’ our strength. It is the opposite of being led by the Spirit. In the dream, we did rescue the girl after she had fallen off the horse which then disappeared around a corner. She had managed to stay alive while crossing six lanes (six centuries) as she rode the undisciplined pony (living in the natural strength of the flesh). Having traveled back across six centuries (six lanes) to the days of her founding (15th century), America (the girl) was no longer being led by the flesh (pony).
So, because of my friend’s dream which preceded mine, I understood the symbols in my dream as well as her dream. I knew that I was also the true body of Christ looking for something (the gospel shoes) as President Bush was doing in my friend’s dream. It took both dreams with all their scenes to understand the whole meaning: The true body of Christ in America (represented by President Bush in the white wedding dress) must find the true gospel again that it had at its founding (six centuries prior) in order not to be led by the undisciplined flesh. It is even a matter of safety… eternal safety. It is, I believe, a matter of Heaven or hell.
Note that my friend and I could not understand our dreams without each other. The body of Christ must exercise their gifts together. Very rarely does God give the whole picture to one person. He gives us all a part of the puzzle, so that as we each give our piece, we gain a beautiful whole picture.
