This is written as a series of Dream Interpretation Helps concerning dreams from God. I will cover the things that I feel are mandatory for correct dream interpretation and application of the truths revealed in the dream. All scripture references are NASB, unless otherwise noted. MODERN DAY IMAGERY IN DREAMS
Of course, God also uses modern day imagery such as cars which usually represent the course our life or ministry is taking. There again, details within that car imagery often are real clues. Examples: Are you driving your own car or someone else’s? God is trying to address a controlling spirit in you if you’re driving someone else’s car. Is the car stopped needing repairs? Pray or repent to God about what has sidetracked you from His will in a relationship or ministry. Are you driving straight or winding all around? God’s paths are only straight. The devil’s paths are winding. Are you going too fast or too slow? Are you getting too close to others in front of you? Do you have proper boundaries (as in close relationships)? Or are you called to push others because you're a leader? The dream should reveal if this quality is to be desired. We need to walk in synch with Jesus. Do your brakes work correctly or does your car just run into things to stop? You may be a people-pleaser, not able to say ‘no’ when necessary.
The Lord is trying to reveal this so you can repent and be a God-pleaser. If in the dream, your car gets hit from behind, generational iniquities may need to be dealt with. Is your car driving itself? Your tongue may be ‘driving’ the course of your life through hurtful, angry words toward others. See James 3 about the tongue set on fire by hell. What is your ‘view’ from your car? Is it a family car? Are you on a course that will cause you to hit something? Is a blue or white truck about to hit you head on? You may be on a collision course with the will of God. Submit to His will! Do you need to make a decision to avoid trouble? Does your car drive 'over' another car that is stalled on a narrow path because you've been boxed in? Don't be concerned. You will not damage the other car by spiritually needing to 'pass' it. Other Christian leaders have had to do this before you in order to move on with God.
Do you see how just slight changes in details about a dream involving a car can show many different meanings? I am sharing these meanings from different dreams that have been told to me by different people or that I personally have had. If there is not a lot of symbolism, the Lord could be asking you to pray about a literal crash so that it will be prevented or the impact greatly lessened. The Lord actually gave me a dream like that one time that I believe prevented a crash from being fatal or causing permanent disabilities to my husband. After I shared the dream, our entire family prayed. Four days after the dream, he was in a crash. It is very rare for any of us to be in a car accident and this one was the fault of the other driver. I believe the Lord let us see His hand by allowing this accident to occur in order for us to know He had prevented an irreversible tragedy. My husband did some calculations concerning the timing of the accident and realized that if he had arrived at the intersection a quarter of a second sooner, the other car would have impacted his driver’s door instead of his front bumper and the crash could have been fatal. We praised God for His promise, “A righteous man’s steps are ordered by the Lord.”
