This is written as a series of Dream Interpretation Helps concerning dreams from God. I will cover the things that I feel are mandatory for correct dream interpretation and application of the truths revealed in the dream. All scripture references are NASB, unless otherwise noted. LAST THOUGHTS ABOUT MAKING OURSELVES READY AND SEEKING HIM
Some other themes that are showing up a lot in dreams in 2011, 2012, and 2013 are 'GET READY for the Lord; don’t be late for the Lord’s coming' dreams and also 'stormy (Day of the Lord)' dreams. Even if it is not the time of the Lord’s coming for ALL of us collectively; we all do have an individual time to meet the Lord when we pass from this life and we need to be ready for eternity… with the Lord.
A point I must emphasize strongly, which you may have already ascertained from these pages, is the fact that the Lord usually gives dreams in parable on purpose, in veiled form in order to call us to seek Him; to come to Him and His Word, the Bible. He is calling us to stop and listen and pray. I believe in searching the Bible (after praying or as I pray about the dream) as God leads for meanings of symbols and parables. A good topical or thematic Bible concordance is very helpful, as is Strong’s Bible concordance. I personally find it helpful to use the cross references in my Bible which lead to other related scriptures as well.
If our first thought is to run to a dream symbol interpretation book or site rather than God Himself (the giver of the dream) and His revealed Word, the Bible, I feel that there is a good chance we will be misled, no matter how good the book is. On the other hand, if the Lord leads you to a book or site, He may speak to you about a particular symbol that way. I have never read one of those books, but I have read a handful of short magazine or internet articles about dreams. Just from a bit that others have told me about dream symbol books and from what I’ve seen in the short articles, I would be very careful to make sure they are not borrowing new age interpretations. That would cut off the voice of the Holy Spirit in the dream whose main job on the earth is to convict of righteousness, sin and judgment. In other words, some books or sites might never consider that the color red may speak of the blood of Jesus or possible harlotry, that is double-mindedness, wanting to be both the Lord’s and the world’s (harlotry’s color is scarlet, a very bright red, but again, it is not the only thing that bright red could symbolize.
We must be led by the Holy Spirit. I think the Lord prefers to teach me dream by dream. I must cling to Him that way. Not seeking the Lord about a dream He has given and seeking the answers elsewhere makes as little sense as a person asking a portrait artist to explain the inner workings of all our human anatomical bodily systems. In other words, go to the Master Artist who created all mankind in a most awesome and intricate fashion from the inside out rather than to an artist who can only draw and understand the outer contours and details of a person and possibly portray a bit of the spirit man. And that is why I am stopping here and not saying anything more about the things the Lord has taught me personally about particular symbols and their meanings in dreams. If I keep you from seeking the Lord yourself, then I have been a hindrance and not a help. May the Lord bless you as you seek Him and His ways.
