Revelation 9 Dream
11-30-12 Betsy Elam
All during the night of November 29, 2012 and into the wee hours of November 30, I had a burden of prayer on me and I couldn’t sleep. I was very aware that the Lord had something to say to me. The instant I went into real sleep, I had the following dream:
Dream:
The Lord Jesus was standing in front of me in a robe. He was illumined by a soft light, such as the glow of a reading light at nighttime. I was only allowed to see him from the shoulders down. He was standing before my chair in which I was sitting and where I usually read my Bible. He had my Bible in His hands. With His hands, He opened my Bible for me, holding it up so that the pages faced me in order for me to read them. Jesus had opened my Bible to Revelation chapter 9. I knew that was where He wanted me to read.
Then, as He opened my Bible, I heard the words, “When people are talking of peace and safety…” That is all I heard. The voice seemed more behind me in contrast to Jesus in front of me. I wondered if I was hearing the voice of an angel say those words.
End of dream.
Thoughts:
I could only conclude that when people are talking of peace and safety in our times, then it is time for Revelation 9 on God’s timetable. I Thessalonians 5:2-4 talks about the sudden destruction of the Day of the Lord when people are saying “peace and safety”.
I actually didn’t know what would be in Revelation 9. I’m aware of much of what is in Revelation, but I have not consciously memorized scripture verses and chapters of what I know. One reason for this is that is one way the Lord speaks to me… He will tell me a chapter and verse from a Bible book for me to look up after I pray or ask Him something. It helps me to know that I’ve heard the Lord and not my own memory. I also have not been following any prophecy teachers for a number of years. I’m even a bit ‘out of it’ when it comes to news because we’ve had no TV for so long. At the time of this dream, I was not ‘in the know’ concerning any major recent news. More on this later.
Anyway, when I read Revelation 9, I was shocked! I saw that the Lord was contrasting men’s ‘peace and safety’ with the most devastating war in history, yet to come. I learned from a commentary, that Revelation 9 is considered to hold the most ominous prophecy of the entire Bible, the war that kills one third of mankind. Revelation 9 is the beginning of the ‘woes’. If you study the ‘woe’ of Matthew 24:15-19, which was in my New Year’s Eve dreams pointing to the upcoming year of 2012 called “Young People and Tornado” and “Wise and Foolish Virgins”, you will see marked similarities.
I learned later that the day before I had this dream (but still the day when the burden of prayer started which led to the dream), an historic event did take place that at least one prophecy teacher has felt could be the seedbed for this terrible war (Armaggedon) prophesied in Revelation 9. The event was Palestine being recognized as a state by the UN on November 29, 2012, even though those lands were won by Israel in the 1967 war as it was defending itself from invasion. Biblically, that is land promised to Israel, God’s chosen people, the Jews; but only as they fully obey the Lord, will it be theirs alone. Others will be coexisting with them if they don’t follow the Lord fully. See the principle at work mentioned in Judges 2:19-23. So there is definitely more than one thing coming into play. Many conflicting claims to the land result in many quarrels. How will those quarrels ever end? Time will tell.
Are those the next words for us to be listening for - “Peace and safety” - in a context where many people might really believe those words? We know from the Bible, any Mideast peace contrived by man will be very short lived.
It’s time for more prayer for the peace of Jerusalem as our Lord commanded, as well as for the lost and those in danger of falling away. It’s time to speak out and demonstrate the love and power of God. It’s not a time to be timid.
